In the Quiet Heart is Hidden
Just got back from the institute choir trip. The one thing I noticed most is that everyone has trials. My goodness some people have trials. My trial of coping with the fact that Chris dumped me for the girl he dated before me pales in comparison to the trials some of the people I know are going through. I was reminded of Mary Anne Young while on the trip. She moved her family across the mississippi to Nauvoo while Brigham was on a mission. She had to purchase land in her infant son's name. She and her family lived in a shack that entire winter on the boggy land she purchased. She had to deal with plural marriage, with sickness, with heartache, and despair. She prevailed. Why can't I get over this stupid stupid thorn in my side? It really isn't that big of a trial to bear. My head and my heart seem so disconnected at times. I know I'm being ridiculous. I know I'm better off without him. In the words of Michael McPhie, "I was snatched out of that situation." But my heart still hurts, and I still cry, and I don't know what to do about it.

Give yourself a break. Sometimes the only cure is time. Do what you need to do, and eventually the pain fades.
