up to 10 bug bites now. They're in strange places. I have 2 on the top of my foot, one on my knuckle, one on my forehead, one on my jaw, and one on the side of my hand. I guess everything else is covered by pioneer dress.
I've been trying to figure out what to do for the YPM talent show and can't decide. I wrote a skit, but Sister Blackinton said that the stage missionaries might get offended because we are parodying one of their acts and then some of the sisters said they won't be in any skit I write, so that ends that plan. I don't want to play horn or piano. Maybe I'll write a poem and have all the band kids sit around and snap as I read it. I'd need a baret to complete the look.
It finally got hot and will stay hot. Welcome to 90 degrees plus humidity. I've never sweat so much before. We played ultimate frisbee and I was more drenched than when I played b-ball at Meridian. One of the senior missionaries that gave tours with me gave me a water bottle cozey she had crocheted, so I've been bringing water on the band wagon and it's been staying cold.
The band's set time for baptisms at the temple is at 2pm on wednesday, and Nick and Rachel can come. I found a brochure where they have live actors in town giving the King Follett discourse or reinacting other parts of Nauvoo history that would be really cool to see, but I didn't send you that brochure, so you'll have to adjust the schedule I made for you. Are Tom and Jenifer coming? They need to go see the play Just Plain Anna Amanda and go to Pioneer Pastimes with their younger kids. I didn't include those cuz Nick would be bored out of his mind.
The Angel Moroni weather vane I've told you about is $65, Mom. You'll have to see it though, it would be so beautiful in the yard.
Has my new skirt been made yet? It can have a slit as long as it is completely backed. A slit would be very helpful. Oh, and if you can dig through my box of shoes and find my black ballroom shoes. They are closed toe, leather, and have a t-strap, if you could bring those out to me when you come in 3 weeks, it would be much appreciated.
Anyone have a job prospect yet?
Bye!
This week has been pretty crazy. On Thursday we had a graduation ceremony for Elder Perona. He's a month younger than Nick and will be living in Helaman Halls this fall! I should introduce them. It was really crazy and very fun. It was a total surprise to Elder Perona.
The heat wave has continued. We haven't been on the band wagon in the afternoons for a week. At 10:30 AM yesterday, the heat index was 106 degrees! It's either insanely hot or raining buckets, I'm not quite sure what they'll have us do for the next 8 weeks because the weather does not allow us to fulfill our calling.
On Sunday the MoTab came in to Nauvoo, everyone but sister wilde and I were insanely busy giving tours, but no one dropped into Lyon Drug. Sister Wilde gave 1 tour in 4 hours and I gave none. We had a lot of time to take some fun pictures though.
We had a "hymn-along" on Sunday. The heat index was 115 when we were rehearsing and we all thought we were going to die. It wasn't much cooler later in the day when we actually performed, but we were at least in the shade. I really wish we could hold performances in doors. We were incredibly out of tune due to the heat, but the music was easy, and I think the missionaries/community enjoyed it. After that we had a primary sing along at the mission president's house. The stage missionaries have so much energy and know all the primary songs. I can't keep up with them a lot of the time.
Monday night we had a community band concert, and it was again, stifling. We don't really like the community band because we don't rehearse, we just run through the music once and play a concert. Everyone completely sweated through their clothes. After the hour long concert, we had to perform Sunset in even thicker/heavier costumes. This heat is absolutely insane.
We get new companions on Sunday, I'm really scared. There's 1 girl in the house that I don't get along with, and I'm pretty sure that because of that, she'll be my companion.
I bought a pregnancy test today at walmart for my ipledge thing for my accutane prescription. It was probably the most awkward purchase a missionary ever made. I went through self check-out.
(I was at girl's camp last week! Sorry guys.)
